Examinations

This course consists of three different types of examination, all giving 2 credits each. These three examinations are a set of computer exercises, an individual assignment, and a dugga.

Computer exercises

This course contains five computer exercises which should be completed as a part of the course. For this, you have four scheduled hours per computer exercise where a lab supervisor will be present. Please note that this time is primarily for asking questions and getting help, and that you are expected to work with the computer exercises outside of the scheduled time as well.

When you are done with all computer exercises, you should hand in a report covering all computer exercises. The report should contain a short background on the exercises and answers to the questions given in the end of each exercise.

You need to hand in (on LISAM, Deadline: 20th of October):

  • The computer lab report

Assignment

In the assignment you should go a bit in depth on one of the topics in the course. You are free to choose a topic yourself, as long as it is covered in the course. You can also discuss and get some advice on a topic with the teachers on the course. When you have chosen a topic, you task is to answer the research question by both reading previous work on the topic and by doing some new practical work yourself. In the end, you will present your topic and the work you have done in a 10 minute presentation at a seminar the 18th of October. Apart from presenting your project, you will also take part in a discussion of both your own and other projects.

You need to hand in (on LISAM, Deadline: 27th of October):

  • your code for the assignment (to reproduce your results)
  • your slides from the seminar
  • an abstract (around 200-250 words, maximum 1 page) describing what you did and why it is important

Dugga

In the dugga, your general knowledge of the concepts of the content of the course will be tested. You can view the dugga as a smaller version of a traditional exam.

The dugga is on the 10th of October. There is a chance to re-rake the dugga on the 17th of October.
